Tiger Tiger held its first BBQ of 2009 last night. Food was prepared by Joe and cooked on the BBQ by Smash and Coach Yoo. Patrons enjoyed a feast of Pork Chops, Chicken Wings and Drumsticks, Salad, Potatoe Salad, Homemade colslaw and Beef burgers washed down with a Vedett Beer all for just 50RMB. If your looking for Indian food Nantong’s best option is the ‘Indian Kitchen’ situated near the entrance to the Nantong City Museum and inside the Nantong Foreign students compound. Frequented daily by the overseas students who study at Nantong Medical College [part of Nantong University] the ‘Indian Kitchen’ is also open to non-students. At weekends there are a number of meat options but usually through the week its a healthy mix of vegtable dishes. Its very well priced and worth a visit!

Last night in TT was quite a spectacle. Secretly swept into Nantong for a game against the US Team at the ‘Bao Zi’ stadium and not advertised at all were the Lithuanian National Basketball team. The team stayed til late at TT and today are playing a game in Shanghai against the US Team again. The Lithuanian team are on a weeks tour to play against other international teams in stadia across China. The Police Station on Hong Qiao Lu and Chengshan Lu junction is the first victim of the expansion of the Hao He Project. The plan we are reliably informed is to extend a boat-able link to Langshan and make Nantong even more of a watery paradise. The town planners are getting creative to make Nantong city shine brighter.

Shanghai Restaurant is part of the Captains Group chain. Situated just down from Captains Bar & Grill its a great place for Chinese banqueting and has been for some years now. The place has an excellent range of Chinese dishes popular with both local and expat customers. There is a large open dining area with banquet tables or if you need something quieter they have private rooms if you book ahead. The place is always busy from around 6-8pm so be sure to book.

The healthiest place to eat in town is Fresh Style, part of the larger Captains Group chain. Fresh Style opened a year ago and since then has been serving up the only worthwhile salad options in the city. A very comprehensive menu with a mix of sandwiches, salads and Chinese meal options.
